Are there only 13 emails on this site?
Heck no! The site is chalk full of funny emails that humor writer John Farnswell has sent to unsuspecting people, companies and organizations.

Why is the site called 13 emails, then?
This site got its name from the list of 13 funniest John Farnswell emails - posted on the home page. The number was chosen because it provides an opportunity to highlight a variety of different subject matter...ok, really Farnswell couldn't choose just ten of his funniest, so we let him choose 13.

So if there's more than 13 emails on the site, how do I find the other ones?
Your best bet is to browse the email archive, which categorizes all emails on the site by month posted. The link to the email archive appears in the primary navigation menu at the top of the home page.

Here are several other ways to find content:

  • You could click on an email listed in either the "Most popular emails" or "Most recent emails" (many emails are added that do not make the list of 13 funniest) lists located along the right side of any page on this site.
  • If you would like to browse all emails based upon the receiver of the email (for example, whether the email recipient is a business, government agency, organization or person), simply click on the appropriate link below the "Browse by email recipient" list also located along the right side of each page.
  • To find an email once appeared on the home page but is no longer listed, you might consider using the search box (also located near the top right side of each page). Simply enter a name or words that were in the email and click "search."

Does the list of 13 funniest emails that appears on the home page ever change?
Yes! Farnswell is constantly writing emails and posting them to the site. A combination of reader comments, poll results and Farnswell's own intuition help in making the decision to add an email to or remove an email from the 13 emails on the home page.

Are these emails real? Did Farnswell actually send these?
Yes! These are actual emails sent from Farnswell using his free Google email account.

Why do some emails have responses and others don't?
Two reasons: Either Farnswell has yet to receive a response to that particular email or the person who has responded has yet to grant permission to post their response. For legal reasons, permission must be granted before we can post any responses. Farnswell may be gutsy, but he's not gutsy enough to risk a lawsuit.
